My Story
I'm kind of a wimp. My wife hates to will freely admit that she's married to a delicate man. Sure, I like to punish myself on 5-14 hour rides and can be found racing my mountain bike nearly every weekend all summer long. I like to think I'm tough. I'm not.
I've made myself sick and miserable for most of the last 15 years from mountain biking, trail running and doing the occasional triathlon. If I wasn't suffering from cramps during a race or vomiting afterward I'd return home useless the rest of the day from nausea. Before any race my kids would ask, Dad, are you going to puke today?
I figured it was worth being sick to do what I love most, to see how far I can push my body. I had given up trying different sports drinks, bars, gels and supplements. I've tried everything out there. It didn't matter what I ate or drank I still cramped and got sick. The only thing that sort of worked was plain water and bananas. Not very convenient nor effective for cross-country racing or doing Leadville, Creampuff or the Kokopelli Trail.
Something had to be done so I set out to create my own sports drink. Obviously, it couldn't make me nauseous and it had to fuel me for hours and hours of biking without bonking or cramping. After a few disasters and a season of epic riding and racing I have come up with the perfect combination of carbohydrates and electrolytes. I call it CarboRocket.
